Fiji Airways support for Vanuatu travellers

Fiji Airways has implemented immediate measures to offer relief to customers affected by Air Vanuatu grounding its flights and filing for insolvency.

Any Fijian National currently holding an Air Vanuatu ticket purchased on or prior to 09.05.24 will be able to depart Port Vila for Nadi on a Fiji Airways flight at no extra cost. Rebooking and changes must be made before the 24.05.24.

Any Fijians in Vanuatu with specific assistance requests or due to travel in the next 48 hours are encouraged to contact the Fiji Airways GSA in Vanuatu directly on +678 22 836 or [email protected].

These guests will have to present a copy of their Air Vanuatu ticket in order to secure a seat on a Fiji Airways flight from Port Vila to Nadi.

Company Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Andre Viljoen says the airline is doing all it can to assist customers affected by the grounding of Air Vanuatu.

“As the National Airline, Fiji Airways has a duty to assist Fijians where possible, and we will not waiver from this. We understand that this may be a difficult time for Fijian Nationals who have paid for an Air Vanuatu ticket which they can no longer redeem, therefore we will not charge them a fee to fly back home to Fiji.”

Fiji Airways has also increased capacity between Nadi and Port Vila with its Boeing 737 MAX fleet operating services this week.

For scheduled flights listed below, the company has already replaced ATR 72 aircraft with Boeing 737 services, adding an additional 110 seats per flight in each direction.

Partnering with Porter

An exciting new partnership has been announced by Fiji Airways to increase its footprint in North America, and make it easier for visitors to reach Fijian paradise.

Fiji’s National Airline has signed an interline agreement with Toronto based Porter Airlines, which provides services in Canada and the United States of America.

The agreement means visitors will only need one ticket to book and fly from airports serviced by Porter Airlines and connect onto their Fiji Airways flights out of Vancouver, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

“Our bookings to and from North America have been strong, collectively making up the second largest group of visitors to Fiji in 2023. Many of these guests are flying in from other cities to catch our flights out of the three ports that Fiji Airways serves.

We are excited to launch this interline partnership with Porter Airlines which creates easier access, and more travel options for customers travelling to and from the important and growing list of markets Porter serves,” said Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr Andre Viljoen.

Porter Airlines with more than sixty aircraft in its fleet provides services to more than 30 destinations across Canada and the United States, with hubs in Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal, and Halifax. Passengers flying on Fiji-Porter itineraries can connect in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Vancouver.
