Qantas launches new direct flight to Papua New Guinea

The connection is the airline's first commercial passenger flight between Sydney and Port Moresby in more than five decades.

Two return flights will operate each week on Boeing 737 aircraft.

Samoa Airport launches initial start of construction for $25 million regional terminal and apron aircraft parking

The construction of two pivotal infrastructure projects for the Samoa Airport Authority (SAA) was officially launched this month at Faleolo, with a ground-breaking ceremony.

Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa in her keynote address articulated the importance of the ground-breaking marking a ‘transformative step’ towards enhancing Samoa’s air transport connectivity and contribution towards the development of the country’s economy.

Fiji-US OSA agreement “to generate FJ$150m”

The Open Skies Agreement (OSA) with the United States aims to attract 40,000 passengers this year, leading to a projected annual increase of up to 75 per cent from 20 per cent.

 Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka said this reflects a robust demand for our national airline, Fiji Airways which is a billion-dollar entity.

 Gavoka said the American service will generate FJD$150 million - $170 million (US$65.44 million - US$74.14 million) from passengers and then cargo. Fiji is in the process of negotiating the agreement with the U.S.

TPA, Air Niugini sign agreement to promote tourist destinations

Air Niugini will be promoting tourist destinations in the country on board its aircrafts following a K1.5 million (US$394,768) agreements with the PNG Tourism Promotion Authority (TPA).

At the signing of the two-year agreement Wednesday, PNGTPA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Eric Uvovo acknowledged the key role of the national flag carrier in developing tourism both in country and abroad.
